Having lived abroad, and having travelled to over 20 European countries (and counting!) I’ve become somewhat of a European day trip expert.

Sure, slow travel is the best way to really get to know a country, but when you don’t have that option, day trips are the best second option.

A little about me…

I’m Vourneen (or Vee)! Irish, award winning travel blogger, international traveller, and lover of all things Europe.

I’ve been exploring the continent for over 20 years (oops… showing my age!), and I’ve always loved sharing my experiences with family and friends, who convinced me I should start a travel blog.

Having to scrimp and save my annual leave to fit as much travel into a week as possible means I had to pack a lot into just a couple of days.

WHERE I’VE BEEN

Portugal

One of my favourite things about Europe is how easy it is to get around. I mean, you can literally be in another country within an hour or two!

I’ve taken advantage of this countless times, planning day trips to nearby cities and towns that offer a completely different experience than the one I’m currently in.

Most recently, while based in Vienna, I was able to take a bunch of day trips to other towns and cities within Austria, as well as hopping over to Slovakia and Hungary for a day!

Whether you’ve only got a short layover in a city, or you’re short on time and want to maximize your experience, day trips are the perfect solution.
